The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs is proud to host a Director's Lunch on “War in the Congo: What's Needed to Achieve A Lasting Peace?” with Ambassador Pierre Schori, Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations, New York.

Ambassador Schori has been serving in his current position since 2000. He has served in many positions in the Social Democratic Party of Sweden, specifically within the International and Foreign Affairs offices. Prior to his current appointment as Ambassador, Mr. Schori was a Member of European Parliament, leader of the Swedish Social Democratic Group and Spokesperson for the Socialist Group on Foreign Affairs, President of the Parliament’s Committee for relations with Japan. He has also served as Minister for International Development Co-operation, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Spokesperson for the Social Democratic Party on Foreign Affairs.

He currently serves as the Chair for the United Nations Committee for Parliamentarians for Global Action. He has also authored many books and publications.
