He is the recipient of numerous prizes, including a MacArthur Fellowship, the United Nations Environment Prize, Japan's Blue Planet Prize, and twenty-five honorary degrees. He is the author or co-author of 50 books, most recently, "World on the Edge: How to Prevent Environmental and Economic Collapse."
