Conversations in Diplomacy: Janine di Giovanni

Mar. 30, 2016 Series: Conversations in Diplomacy

In this installment of “Conversations in Diplomacy," the Future of Diplomacy Project's Executive Director, Cathryn Clüver, speaks with Janine di Giovanni, Middle East editor of Newsweek and the Pakis Scholar at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Di Giovanni underscores similarities between the displacement of civilians during the Bosnian conflict of the 1990s and the present-day Syrian crisis and reflects also on the dedication and duty of journalists tasked with telling the stories of victims of war. As Clüver describes, di Giovanni's work and insight establish how journalists achieve public service through dedication to their journalistic craft and by "going to places where diplomacy has failed."
