Joseph Nye Honored with Jury Prize at the Sakıp Sabancı International Research Awards Ceremony

Professor Joseph S. Nye, Jr. received the Sakıp Sabancı International Research Awards' Jury Prize at a ceremony held at Istanbul's Sabancı Center on April 10, 2019. The ceremony was hosted by the Sakıp Sabancı family and  Sabancı University.

At the ceremony, Nye spoke on soft power, a country's ability to achieve desirable outcomes through attraction, and said that soft power would play a great role in Turkey's future.

The Sakıp Sabancı Research Awards—established fourteen years ago to honor the will of the late Sakıp Sabancı, Honorary Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sabancı University—are Turkey's first international awards given in social sciences. Past award-winning subjects  have ranged from Turkey's economy to foreign policy, history, and social dynamics.  The theme of the 2019 competition was  the "Future Of Multilateralism In Global Turmoil: Rethinking Security, Economy, and Democracy."
