Middle East Initiative Hosts Breakfast for Jordanian Prime Minister Samir Rifai
The Middle East Initiative Hosts Welcome Breakfast for His Excellency Samir Rifai and The Honorable Zaid al-Rifai of Jordan
On August 26th, 2010, the Middle East Initiative hosted a breakfast at the Harvard Faculty Club for His Excellency Prime Minister Samir Rifai of Jordan. In attendance at the breakfast were Dean David Ellwood of the Harvard Kennedy School; Dean William Fitzsimmons, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at Harvard College; Middle East Initiative director Hilary Rantisi; Harvard Kennedy School faculty affiliated with the Middle East Initiative; and Jordanian students from the Harvard Kennedy School.
The prime minister was visiting Cambridge with his son Zaid who is just entering his freshman year at the university. Zaid's sister and grandfather, the Honorable Zaid Al-Rifai, a former Prime Minister of Jordan, were also in attendance. Both the Honorable Zaid Al-Rifai and His Excellency Samir Rifai are alumni of Harvard University and active in the Harvard Arab Alumni Association. The Rifai family has been instrumental in elevating Harvard's profile in the Middle East and expanding opportunities for students from the region.
