Photo Gallery: 2016 South Asia Week
From April 25 to April 29, The Future of Diplomacy Project and India and South Asia Project hosted the annual South Asia Week with influential practitioners of diplomacy from Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, and the U.S. invited to discuss prevailing issues affecting the region.
Beginning 2016's South Asia Week, Ambassador Mohammad Ziauddin, Ambassador of Bangladesh to the U.S., delivered a public speech on Bangladesh's economic transformation and geopolitical role. Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi, Pakistan's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN, then discussed Pakistan's role in upholding regional peace and its commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In an off-the-record discussion with HKS faculty, fellows, and students, Ambassador Richard Olson, U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, offered a frank assessment of U.S. long-term strategy in the region. Concluding South Asia Week, Ambassador Syed Akbaruddin, Permanent Representative of India to the UN, spoke on India's increasing role in multilateral institutions and the future of Indian diplomatic power.
