
Jeremy Williams
Biography
Lieutenant Colonel Jeremy C. Williams is a National Security Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School. He received his commission as a Field Artillery Officer through a direct appointment in 2004 following enlisted service in the Utah Army National Guard, where he began his military career in 1993. He is a graduate of the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, Captains Career Course, Command and General Staff Officer Course, Information Operations Qualification Course, Human Resource Management Qualification Course, and the Joint Combined Warfighting School.
Prior to his selection as a National Security Fellow, Lieutenant Colonel Williams served as the Battalion Commander for the 2nd Battalion, 222nd Field Artillery in the Utah Army National Guard. His previous assignments include service as the J33 Current Operations Branch Chief at United States Northern Command in Colorado Springs, Colorado; Executive Officer for Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 65th Field Artillery Brigade; Theater Security Cooperation Lead for the 65th Field Artillery Brigade at Camp Redleg, United Arab Emirates; Executive Officer for the Utah Recruiting and Retention Battalion; Executive Officer for Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 2nd Battalion, 222nd Field Artillery; and Company Commander of the 213th Forward Support Company during Operation New Dawn in Baghdad, Iraq. Earlier in his career, he served as a Fire Direction Officer and Platoon Leader for Charlie Battery, 2-222nd Field Artillery during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, and held multiple leadership positions including Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and Battalion Recovery Chief.
Lieutenant Colonel Williams holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Southern Utah University and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Utah. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” device, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, Recruiting Basic Badge, and the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara.
