Noah Genger

Lieutenant Colonel Noah Genger is attending the Harvard National Security Fellowship at the Harvard Kennedy School.  LTC Genger is an Army aviator that serves as an active-duty National Guard member with the Montana Army National Guard.  He has experience in many different fields including aviation, recruiting, innovation, Army Design Methodology, and multiple legislative efforts.  Prior to his arrival at Harvard, he served as the Innovation Officer for the Montana Army National Guard focusing on cyber collaboration, extreme cold weather operations, and increased special operations training in Montana.

LTC Genger enlisted into the Montana Army National Guard in 2001 as an Infantryman.  After returning from Basic/Advanced Training, he attended the University of Montana where he completed ROTC and received his commission as an Aviation Officer in 2003.  He is a graduate of the Aviation Officer Basic Course, the Adjutant General Captains Career Course, Command and General Staff College, and the School of Advanced Military Studies.  LTC Genger holds a B.A. in Economics and an M.A. in Military Operations.

Prior to his arrival at the Harvard National Security Fellowship, he was assigned to the Montana Army National Guard where he served as the Deputy State Army Aviation Officer and the State Innovation Officer.  His command assignments include: 26 months as the Commander, Detachment 1 Company B 1-189th GSAB; 22 months as Commander, Company D 1-189th GSAB; 35 months as Commander, 1-189th General Support Aviation Battalion; and 40 months as Commander, Army Aviation Support Facility, Helena, Montana.  

His previous non-command assignments include service as an Aviation Platoon Leader, S1 Personnel Officer, S2 Intel Officer, Asst S3 Plans Officer, S4 Logistics Officer and BN Executive Officer for the 1-189th General Support Aviation Battalion in Helena, MT with which he served two tours in support of Operation Spartan Shield in Kuwait (2013-2014: Asst S3) and Saudi Arabia (2019-2020: BN XO).   LTC Genger served as the S4 and S3 Operations Officer in the 95th Troop Command; the Executive Officer to the Adjutant General for the State of Montana; and the Executive Officer for the Recruiting and Retention Battalion.
