Affiliate, Arctic Initiative

Robbie Macpherson is an affiliate of Harvard’s Arctic Initiative focused on the UK’s place as the Arctic’s nearest neighbor and its policy approach to the region. He is continuing to support Dr. Jennifer Spence with a report for the Arctic Monitoring Assessment Programme on the Societal Impacts of Climate Change Actions in Arctic communities, which he began as a Kennedy Scholar at Harvard (2025-26) researching climate risk and energy geopolitics. Macpherson has represented the Initiative at various SATA workshops including the High North Dialogue in Bodø and on Arctic communities and security in Svalbard.

Before Harvard, Macpherson completed a Churchill Fellowship in Denmark and Colombia researching insights for the UK on both countries experiences of the clean energy transition. He is graduate of Sheffield University.

Macpherson's day job involves working as project manager for the Big Shift Bureau, which supports cross-party UK political leaders on climate, clean energy, and nature. Previously, he led the secretariat to the UK All-Party Parliamentary Environment Group and later the All-Party Parliamentary Climate Group. He has been a strategic adviser to the All-Party Parliamentary Groups on International Conservation and Deforestation.
