Sam Loni is a Research Fellow in the Environment and Natural Resources Program at Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. His research combines machine learning and econometrics to study the role of public finance in shaping economic growth and diversification in emerging economies, particularly in the context of the energy transition. 

He is also a Research Associate at the University of Oxford, working with the Institute for New Economic Thinking and the Smith School of Enterprise & Environment. 

In addition to his research and policy work, Sam also has extensive experience with leadership and management, having successfully founded and led major international programmes over the past decade. 

He completed his bachelor’s degree at Monash University in Australia, and later graduated with two master’s degrees, including an MBA, from the University of Oxford. He is currently completing his PhD at the London School of Economics.
