Charlotte Esler
Charlotte Esler is a Master in Public Policy 2022 candidate at Harvard Kennedy School and co-chair of the Women in Defense, Diplomacy, and Development (W3D) student organization. Prior to Harvard, she was a Vice President in the global investment banking and securities arm of Mizuho Financial Group, one of Japan’s largest companies. Responsible for providing Asian and US equities advisory services to institutional investors including hedge funds, pension funds, and sovereign wealth, she was posted to London and Singapore and undertook secondments to Hong Kong and Tokyo. Charlotte graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Politics with a focus on East Asia and Mandarin Chinese from SOAS, University of London. Her research and policy interests include Indo-Pacific security, US-UK relations, and Japanese foreign policy.
