Megan Turnbull is a postdoctoral fellow at the Belfer Center's International Security Program. She holds a Ph.D. in political science from Brown University, where she was a National Science Foundation IGERT doctoral fellow. Her work focuses on election violence in Sub-Saharan Africa and has been published in World Development, International Security, and Political Science Quarterly. Her book project examines when and why political elites and different nonstate actors co-produce election violence in Nigeria. In related work, she studies armed group politics, community mobilization against election violence, and how violence during elections shapes voting behavior.
