Sir Christopher Geidt

Sir Christopher Geidt has been Private Secretary to Queen Elizabeth the Second since 2007. He is the principal channel of communication with the governments of the sixteen jurisdictions, including the United Kingdom, of which Queen Elizabeth is Head of State.

Geidt's role encompasses constitutional, political and governmental responsibilities, including international affairs. He joined the Royal Household in 2002 after diplomatic service with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the United Nations, with whom he served in Sarajevo, Brussels and Geneva. Geidt also saw military service during the first Gulf War, in Cambodia and in Bosnia. He was previously an Assistant Director at the Royal United Services Institute in London, with research interests in the international aspects 
of Northern Ireland and Cambodia. His last association with Harvard was a Visiting Fellowship at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in 1992.

Geidt is a Fisher Family Fellow at the Future of Diplomacy Project at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. Geidt will join the Project in November, lecturing on aspects of diplomatic practice and facilitating a study group on public service.
