
Sir David Manning
Sir David Manning, former U.K. Ambassador to the United States from 2003 until 2007, joined the Future of Diplomacy Project as a Fisher Family Fellow in November, 2012.He joined the Foreign & Commonwealth Office as a British diplomat in 1972 and served in Warsaw, New Delhi, Paris and Moscow. From 1994 to 1995 he was Head of Policy Planning; from 1995 to 1998 Ambassador to Israel; and from 1998 to 2000 he was Deputy Under secretary of State for Defence and Intelligence and a member of the Foreign Office Board. Manning was the UK Permanent Representative at NATO (Brussels) from 2000 to 2001 before returning to London as Foreign Policy Adviser to the Prime Minister and Head of the Defence and Overseas Secretariat between 2001 and 2003.
Manning is a Fisher Family Fellow at the Future of Diplomacy Project at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. Manning was in residence at the Future of Diplomacy Project in November, 2012. During this time he gave a public lecture and taught a series of Master Classes with the Faculty Director of the Future of Diplomacy Project.
