Abstract
John M. Owen, IV, reviews Michael Doyle’s book Ways of War and Peace: Realism, Liberalism, and Socialism. According to Owen, “Doyle has written one of the most important books on international politico-military theory since Kenneth Waltz’s Theory of International Politics.” In particular, Owen lauds Doyle’s effort to revive scholarly interest in reading the Western canon, including works by such notables as Thucydides, Machiavelli, Rousseau, and Kant.
