The Future of Diplomacy Project Hosts French Ambassador Gérard Araud
His Excellency Gerárd Araud, French Ambassador to the United States, opened the autumn 2016 programming of the Future of Diplomacy Project on September 12, 2016. In his off-the-record remarks, Ambassador Araud shared his views on the balance of power in the NATO alliance as well as the complex debate currently dominating French public policy how best to address the "burkini" controversy, raised by local legislation in parts of France. He also responded to questions about the Brexit vote by situating the referendum within the larger context of populist movements on both sides of the Atlantic.
