PDP Co-Director Carter discusses "Challenges of Nuclear Proliferation" at conference on progress and conflict in the Middle East

"The Middle East: Between Progress and Conflict," an inaugural conference jointly hosted by The Dubai Initiative and the Dubai School of Government, was held on November 8, 2007 at the Kennedy School of Government.

During the conference’s opening panel on “The Shifting Balance of Power,” PDP Co-Director Dr. Ashton Carter presented a paper on “Challenges of Nuclear Proliferation.”

Other speakers on the panel included Rami Khouri, Director of the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs at the American University of Beirut and Editor-at-Large of the Daily Star, who discussed “America and the Arab World,” and Vali Nasr, Council on Foreign Relations Adjunct Senior Fellow for Middle Eastern Studies and Professor of International Politics at Tufts University, who discussed strategies for “Contending with Iran’s Regional Role.” The panel was chaired by Joseph Nye.
