Duties & Responsibilities
Project on Managing the Atom (MTA) at the Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs is seeking a full-time Research Assistant to conduct in-depth research in support of projects focusing on reducing the risks of nuclear theft and terrorism worldwide, addressing key constraints on the future of nuclear energy, and preventing black-market nuclear technology transfers. Reporting to MTA co-principal investigator Prof. Matthew Bunn, the research assistant will play a key role in researching and writing policy memos, reports, journal articles, and book chapters on nuclear policy issues. Job responsibilities will include collecting and summarizing information, monitoring developments, supporting the research and writing of the MTA, generating recommendations for additional action, and completing other related job duties as required.
Qualifications
At least one year of related work experience (relevant course work may count toward experience). Excellent research, writing, editing, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently. Initiative, sound judgment, and attention to detail are required. Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. Applicants with an advanced degree in a related field will also be considered. Candidate must have exceptional writing and research skills, a demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision under tight deadlines, and strong interpersonal skills and professionalism. Prior knowledge of nuclear policy issues preferred. Prior exposure to computer technologies and databases preferred.
