Promoting Equity and Growth in Africa

The WPF Program on Intrastate Conflict has recently widened its fold to include a new project aimed at developing sustainable policies and strategies for promoting equitable growth in sub-Saharan Africa.

The Equity and Growth through Economic Research— Public Strategies for Growth and Equity Project (EAGER/PSGE), formerly housed at the Harvard Institute for International Development, is a six-year research project funded by USAID. Its purpose is to encourage African decision-makers to use economic and social research on key economic issues that affect growth and development.

Clients for EAGER research include African public and private-sector organizations, USAID field offices, and the Africa Bureau of USAID. Host countries include Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

The EAGER team at Harvard heads a consortium of universities and private companies and is managed by Clive Gray and advised by Malcolm McPherson.
