The Russian Political Party Building Handbook (updated version)

Abstract

This handbook is an updated version of the SDI Russian Party Building and Campaigning Handbook. It was prepared in response to requests from Russian Parliamentarians and party leaders for a simple, straightforward summary of Western experience in campaign organization, strategy, and tactics. As one of the initiators of this project stated his request, "Could you assemble a handbook like the "How To Do It" manuals on the best practices in Western business, but focused on democratic parties and campaigns?" The handbook seeks to respond to these requests by summarizing key lessons and suggestions from various campaign manuals and studies, focusing particularly on recent American experience.
