Statement Commending Department of Defense for Inaugural 2023 Biodefense Posture Review
Syra Madad issued the following statement commending the Department of Defense for the inaugural 2023 Biodefense Posture Review.
"As the biosecurity threat landscape evolves, the United States and our military forces must be able to prepare for, respond to, and recover from the full spectrum of biothreats – whether they be natural, accidental, or deliberate. I commend the U.S. Department of Defense’s inaugural 2023 Biodefense Posture Review which ultimately bolsters our nation’s biodefense capabilities, increases our resilience, and strengthens deterrence of bioweapons. As a biosecurity advisor and special pathogens epidemiologist, it is crucial that the nation take active steps towards fortifying our collective defenses and sending a strong signal we take biothreats seriously."
