Demolition & Dispossession: The Destruction of Palestinian Homes
Jeff Halper, Professor of Anthropology at Ben Gurion University, is an Israeli Jew who is active in opposing house demolitions and helping the victim families. Salim Shawamreh, whose home has been repeatedly demolished, is a Palestinian peace activist and works for the Palestinian Ministry of Industry. Amnesty International's December 1999 report on the Israeli practice of demolishing Palestinian homes highlights the problems with a practice that has left at least 16,700 Palestinians homeless and constitutes a serious vilation of international human rights standards.
