The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs is proud to host a Director's Seminar entitled "The Future of Climate Negotiations" with Jan Pronk, Chair of the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED).
Prior to his position at IIED, Mr. Pronk served as UN Secretary General Kofi Annan’s Special Envoy for the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development. He was Minister of Environment (1998-2002) and previously Minister of Development Cooperation (1973-77; 1989-1998) for the Government of the Netherlands. He was President of the Conference of the Parties (COP 6) for the UN Climate Change negotiations in 2000 (The Hague) and 2001 (Bonn).
He has also served as a member of the Lower House of Parliament for the Labour Party from 1971-73; 1978-80; and 1986-1989.
