Governing AI: A Conversation with Sebastian Mallaby

Please join the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs for a conversation with Sebastian Mallaby, Paul A. Volcker Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). Drawing on his new book, The Infinity Machine: Demis Hassabis, DeepMind, and the Quest for Superintelligence, Mallaby will discuss the race for AI innovation and how policymakers can manage emerging technology. 

A two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist, Mallaby is the author of six books, including More Money Than God: Hedge Funds and the Making of a New Elite and The Power Law: Venture Capital and the Making of the New Future, which have become investment classics. He also co-hosts a weekly CFR podcast, The Spillover, which examines the ripple effects of global events across policy, geopolitics, economics, technology, and financial markets. Before joining CFR, Mallaby served eight years as a columnist and editorial board member at the Washington Post and spent thirteen years with the Economist. 

The seminar will be moderated by Michael McQuade, Director for the Program on Emerging Technology, Scientific Advancement and Global Policy at the Belfer Center.
