The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs is proud to host a Director's Seminar entitled  "Holy War, Inc." with Peter Bergen, author and terrorism analyst.

Former correspondent/producer for CNN, Peter Bergen will discuss his book,  Holy War, Inc.: Inside the Secret World of Osama bin Laden, an account of the jihadist network that emerged out of the Afghan war against the Soviet Union that has spread terrorism and holy war around the world.  His book chronicles the Islamic extremism that fuels al Qaeda, and the overlying structure that makes it possible.

While at CNN, Mr. Bergen produced and interviewed Osama bin Laden in bin Laden’s first television interview, taped in the remote mountains of Afghanistan. Bergen is a veteran news producer, having worked for ABC News as well, covering various stories including the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.  HE has written extensively about Islamist militant groups for publications including The New Republic, London’s Daily Telegraph, The Washington Times and Vanity Fair. He has also appeared as a commentator on PBS and NPR.

Mr. Bergen is a graduate of Oxford University, is recipient of the Leonard Silk Journalism Fellowship, and was a Pew-Journalist-in-residence at John Hopkins University.

This is sure to be a stimulating and informative discussion.
