Chrystia Freeland will speak about issues covered in her new book on Russia's capitalist transformation, Sale of the Century: Russia's Wild Ride from Communism to Capitalism.Freeland is the deputy editor of theGlobe and Mail, Canada's national newspaper. Prior to that she was the UK News Editor of the Financial Times. She spent four years in Russia as the Financial Times bureau chief, from the beginning of 1995 to the end of 1998. From 1991-1993 she lived in Kiev and reported on Ukraine for the Financial Times, the Washington Post, and the Economist.Freeland attended Harvard as an undergraduate where she studied Russian History and Literature. She is a Rhodes Scholar and was awarded a Master of Slavonic Studies while at Oxford.
