Following an overview of the space weapons issue, Dr. Marshall will discuss a community strategy for preventing their deployment and a specific research effort that fits into that strategy — the Space Security Index. This is a project to map out the capabilities and intentions of space actors and engage all stakeholders in the space community (military, civil, commercial) in part through a large online survey of over 200 space experts. The project's purpose is to enable a reasoned debate about, and bring consensus on, future laws and norms for the new frontier.
