Tiananmen Ten Years Later: Reflections on an Unfinished Chinese Revolution

About

At this tenth anniversary event, Wang Dan and Xiao Qiang will discuss the stormy events of 1989 -- from the ?democracy salons? organized at Beijing University to the government crackdown and ensuing arrests. What precipitated the Chinese protests? What did the students expect from the Chinese government? From the outside world? If they had it to do over again, what would the democracy movement?s leaders do differently? How have the 1989 protests and crackdown impacted upon developments within China in the last decade? How have they impacted upon China?s relations with foreign powers?
