In this seminar, Professor Joseph Nye will examine the changing balance of power among China, Japan, and the United States, and its implication for U.S. policy of the "pivot" or "rebalancing" toward the Asia-Pacific region. He will also address the contemporary dynamics of U.S.-China and U.S.-Japan relations, and as well as maritime and territorial disputes and nationalism in East Asia.
