To compete and thrive in the 21st century, democracies, and the United States in particular, must develop new national security and economic strategies that address the geopolitics of information. In the 20th century, market capitalist democracies geared infrastructure, energy, trade, and even social policy to protect and advance that era’s key source of power—manufacturing. In order to make a contribution to avoiding carbon dioxide
(CO2) emissions and mitigating climate change, climate-friendly technologies must be deployed at considerable scale. Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is one such technology. In this talk, Jeff will discuss the returns to scale for CCS as the spatial coupling of an integrated system of technologies. He will also discuss technological learning and innovation in managing CO2 injection projects, and how such technological change has occurred over time.
