Administration

Leadership and management of the Program were provided by a four-member directing staff:

Paul Doty, Director of PSIA and Mallinckrodt Professor of Biochemistry, who divided his time evenly between the Program and the Department of Biochemistry; Albert Carnesale, Associate Director of PSIA and Lecturer in Public Policy in the Kennedy School of Government; Michael Nacht, Assistant Director of PSIA and Lecturer in Public Policy in the Kennedy School of Government; and Dorothy Zinberg, Director of Seminars and Special Projects.

As part of the Center for International Affairs, the Program benefited in many ways: useful contacts with the staff and Fellows of the Center; participation in the wide range of Center-sponsored seminars; utilization of Center services and facilities (e.g., library, cafeteria, and conference rooms); and support in the performance of routine and administrative functions. During the course of the year, the Center''s Visiting Committee reviewed and evaluated the activities of the Program. Interaction with the Center will continue during 1978-79, and the new Center for Science and International Affairs will conduct some of its seminars in CFIA''s new offices at 1737 Cambridge Street.

Advisory Committee

Guidance and direction were provided by the Program''s Advisory Committee, through communication with individual members and a meeting of the Committee on May 5, 1978.

The administrators and research staff were aided by a competent supporting staff. Barbara Degen administered the 3,500-volume library and also served as assistant managing editor of the Program''s journal International Securit . Administrative assistance was provided by Michelle Marcouiller., Barbara Talhouni, and Giles Whitcomb. Secretarial services were supplied by Agnes Brophy, Lily Chiu, Rachel Macurdy, Diana Murrell, Martha Ockenfels, Linda Rossman, and Susan Shen.
