Visiting Research Fellow, Arctic Initiative
Anika Affleck is a Fulbright Canada Student Award recipient and incoming Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) student at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. She joins the Belfer Center's Arctic Initiative as a Visiting Research Fellow, where her work focuses on strengthening community health, resilience, and wellbeing across the Circumpolar North.
Affleck has worked across government, academia, and the private sector in public health, including with the Office of the Chief Public Health Officer of the Northwest Territories, the Institute for Circumpolar Health Research, and TELUS Health. She holds a Master of Public Health from University College London and previously earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen's University.
At the Arctic Initiative, Affleck will explore how community-led health and wellbeing initiatives can inform public health policy and practice across the Circumpolar North. She is particularly interested in strengthening connections between communities, researchers, and decision-makers to support evidence-informed action.
