Aruni Ranaweera is an Adaptation and Resilience Research Assistant at the Belfer Center’s Arctic Initiative where she researches community-based strategies and innovations to build resilience to the impacts of climate change. Aruni is a Master of Public Policy student at the Harvard Kennedy School studying environmental health and natural resource policy. Aruni interned at White House Council on Environmental Quality advancing equitable environmental policy across the country. Before coming to Harvard, Aruni managed the New York City Parks Department’s “Catalyst” environmental health program where she worked directly with community leaders to advance policies for more equitable parks and greenspaces across the City. Prior to joining municipal government, Aruni worked in the nonprofit disaster resilience and mitigation sector.
