Ayaz Mammadov is a joint Research Fellow with the Belfer Center's Environment and Natural Resources Program and the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School. His research leverages data science and econometric methods to examine the impact of data centers on energy demand and to design decision models that optimize systems in the transport sector.

Before joining the Belfer Center, Ayaz served as Director of Research at the Vanderbilt Project on Unity and American Democracy, where he led initiatives at the intersection of policy, research, and public engagement. He brings extensive experience in research management and policy across academics, non-profit, business, and government sectors.

Ayaz holds a Master's degree in International Relations and Economics from Near East University, as well as Master of Public Policy (MPP) and a Master of Science in Data Science from University of Michigan.
