
Clinton Pierce
Biography
Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Clinton E. Pierce is an active-duty U.S. Army Officer currently serving as a National Security Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. He received his commission as an ordnance officer from the United States Military Academy (West Point) in 2005. He most recently served as the Commander of the U.S. Army’s 303d Ordnance Battalion (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) – the senior most EOD commander in support of the U.S. Army Pacific.
Lieutenant Colonel Pierce is a native of Spring Hill, Florida, and holds a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from Webster University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the U.S. Military Academy (West Point).
He is a graduate of the Ordnance Officer Basic Course, the Combined Logistic Advanced Courses, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Course, Airborne School, Command and General Staff College, the How the Army Runs Course, the Capabilities Developer Course, Humanitarian Demining, and the Theater Nuclear Operations Course.
LTC Pierce’s prior assignments include: Force Protection Branch Chief, HQDA G-8, the Pentagon, Washington D.C; Chief of Operations, ATI-3, Defense Intelligence Agency, Charlottesville, VA; Commander, 21st Ordnance Disposal Company (EOD) (WMD), Kirtland Air Force Base, NM; Guest Scientist, Los Alamos National Lab (DOE), NM; Division Chief and Instructor, Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Eglin Air Force Base, FL; Commander, 720th Ordnance Company (EOD), Mannheim, Germany; and Platoon Leader, 38th Ordnance Company (EOD), Fort Stewart, GA. He has deployed to Fallujah and Baghdad, Iraq, and Kandahar and multiple locations within Afghanistan.
LTC Pierce’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2 OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal (1 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (1 OLC), the Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Parachutist Badges, and the HQDA Staff Identification Badge.
LTC Pierce has been married to his wife, Heidi Pierce, for 18 years.
