Dan Smith

Dan Smith is a Master in Public Policy candidate at the Harvard Kennedy School (class of 2026) and a John F. Kennedy Fellow. He is a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force. At Harvard, he focuses on how emerging technologies such as autonomous systems are affecting U.S. national security and broader foreign affairs.

Prior to HKS, Dan interned at the National Nuclear Security Administration and the Defense Innovation Unit. He holds a B.S. in Physics from the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he graduated as a Distinguished Graduate. He is a former parachuting instructor and member of the Air Force parachute team with more than 600 jumps.
