Kunal Singh is a political scientist who specializes in nuclear weapons and international security. He recently earned his Ph.D. from the Security Studies Program in the Department of Political Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His dissertation creates a typology of counterproliferation strategies and develops a theory to explain how states select among those strategies.
His other ongoing projects focus on antisubmarine warfare, nuclear proliferation efforts by personalist regimes, and security issues in South Asia. He has also been a Visiting Research Fellow at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel. Before starting his Ph.D., Kunal worked as a journalist for Hindustan Times and Mint, writing extensively on India's defense and foreign policies. He holds a Bachelor of Technology (honors) in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
