LTC Adam F. Latham is from Pittsfield, MA, and was commissioned as an Armor Officer upon graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2001.

Following graduation from AOBC and the Scout Platoon Leader’s Course, he was initially assigned as a Reconnaissance/Anti-Tank Platoon leader in Killer Troop, 3rd Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, deploying his platoon in support of the invasion of Iraq in OIF I. He later served as the Squadron Support Platoon Leader. Upon redeployment, he was appointed as a Troop Executive Officer in Lightning Troop, 3rd Squadron, and later as the Brigade S1 of 4th BCT, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Following the Armor Captain’s Career Course, he was assigned as an Armor Officer Basic Course Instructor, and later Headquarters and Headquarters Troop Commander, 2nd Squadron, 16th Cavalry Regiment. He then moved to Fort Lewis, where he served as a Reconnaissance Troop Commander in A Troop, and later as A/S3 of 8th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team during the BCT’s deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 2009-2010. LTC Latham then moved to 191st Training Support Brigade, where he served as the S3 and XO of 1st Battalion, 357th Infantry Battalion.

Following graduation from CGSC, he was assigned as the S3 of 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, joining the unit in Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 2011-2012. Upon redeployment to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, he became the Squadron Executive Officer, and a year later was then selected to become the Brigade Executive Officer of 3rd SBCT. After serving in that billet for a year, he served as the Secretary of the General Staff of 7th Infantry Division, where he served from May of 2015 to March of 2016. He then was selected to serve as the Aide de Camp to the US Security Coordinator to Israel and the Palestinian Authority, stationed in Jerusalem from March 2016 to November 2017. Following his promotion to LTC, he moved to Fort Stewart, GA, where he served as the Deputy G3 of 3ID for a year, and then commanded 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment from May of 2019 to May of 2021. He subsequently moved to Fort Irwin, CA, and served as the Senior Cavalry Trainer- Cobra 07, and the Senior BCT Trainer – Bronco 07, for the National Training Center. He most recently has been selected as a Harvard Security Fellow.

LTC Latham’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, and Combat Action Badge. Lieutenant Colonel Latham is a graduate of the Armor Officer Basic Course, Scout Platoon Leader’s Course, Armor Captains’ Career Course, the Cavalry Leader’s Course, the Army Command and General Staff College, and Webster University’s International Relations Master’s Program.

Lieutenant Colonel Latham is married to the former Heather Lovegrove of Kennebunk, Maine who is a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner. They have four children; Tristan and Eliese (17) are twins and are currently in the 12h grade. Maryn (12), is in 7th grade. Caroline (2) is just happy to be here.
