Ríkey Hauksdóttir is a Predoctoral Research Fellow with the Belfer Center’s Arctic Initiative and a PhD Candidate at the University of Iceland, where she researches China-Russia relations in the Arctic. She is also a research fellow at the North American and Arctic Defence and Security Network. She previously worked as a Project Manager at the Centre for Arctic Studies and has a background in journalism and radio broadcasting.
Hauksdóttir holds a B.A. in Chinese Studies and an M.A. in International Relations from the University of Iceland. As a Fulbright researcher, she has explored geopolitical and security issues, with a particular focus on the Arctic. She has also lived in China and has taught courses on international relations theory, security studies, and Chinese society and politics.
Her research interests include Arctic geopolitics and security, Chinese and Russian foreign policies, and small-state security dynamics.
