Biography

Philip Andrew Martin is a Predoctoral Research Fellow with the Belfer Center’s International Security Program and a Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was a Fulbright Scholar. His research examines civil-military relations and state authority in countries ruled by former armed movements. His writing has appeared in outlets such as African Affairs, Civil Wars, Foreign Affairs, and the Washington Post’s “Monkey Cage.” He holds an M.A. in International Affairs from Carleton University and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Guelph.
