Ryan Canady is a career civil servant with years of national security and public policy experience.  He has participated in multiple aspects of national defense from the tactical to strategic levels.  His roles and contributions also span a range of disciplines from counterinsurgency and joint targeting to officer accessions and intelligence collection operations across the globe.  Ryan has overseas experience in Korea, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Europe, along with over a decade of policy, oversight, and governance experience across the inter-agency as a representative of the Office of the Secretary of Defense.  His most recent assignment was as the Chief of Staff for the Director of Defense Intelligence (Collection & Special Programs) as part of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence & Security.  

Ryan holds degrees in Political Science and Policy Management from the University of Utah and Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy.  He is also a graduate of the Army War College, the Command and General Staff College, and the Joint and Combined Warfighting School.  Ryan is a former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Intern and has previously completed National Security Executive Leadership training at both MIT and the Department of State’s Foreign Service Institute.
