Commander Will Grenoble was born in San Francisco, California. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2003, commissioned through the Officer Candidate School program in Pensacola, Florida in 2005 and graduated from the Naval Intelligence Officer Basic Course in 2005.

Afloat, Commander Grenoble has served as the Imagery Officer for Carrier Air Wing 8 (CVW 8) supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Scan Eagle Detachment and Intelligence Officer on USS Whidbey Island (LSD 41) supporting joint counter-piracy operations in the Somali Basin, Deputy Intelligence Officer (N21) with Carrier Strike Group 11 (CSG 11) embarked on USS Nimitz (CVN 68) supporting Operation Inherent Resolve and Pacific presence operations, and as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence (N2) and Deputy Information Warfare Commander (DIWC) for Carrier Strike Group 2 (CSG 2) embarked on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Ashore, he has served as a Regional J2 Watch Officer and Mainland Southeast Asia Branch Lead at U.S. Pacific Command; as Senior Watch Officer, Counter-intelligence targeting officer, and Indications & Warning Department Head at NCIS Multiple Threat Alert Center; the Assistant China Strategy and Policy Branch Lead, the Fleet Engagement Officer, and the Deputy Fleet Imagery Support Team Department Head at the Nimitz Operational Intelligence Center at the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI); and the Battlespace Awareness Requirements Officer in the N8 at Naval Information Forces.

Commander Grenoble holds a Master of Arts Degree in Defense and Strategic Studies, Highest Distinction, from the U.S. Naval War College as part of the Maritime Advanced Warfighting School (MAWS) operational planner program. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania.  He is currently the sole Navy representative to the National Security Fellowship program at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.  

Commander Grenoble’s personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards) and the Commendation Medal (five awards).
