Alumni Serving the Nation

Featured in the Spring 2022 Newsletter »

Public service is at the heart of Harvard Kennedy School’s teaching, training, and scholarship. When Belfer Center alumni leave the school to help lead nonprofits, serve in the military, or direct important functions of government, we regard that as a vital and continuing expression of our mission.

In the last issue of the Center’s newsletter, we named over a dozen figures who’ve answered the call to serve in senior roles in the U.S. government. We’re pleased to report several additional Belfer and HKS alumni serving in government. Among them:

Headshots of Ezinne Uzo-Okoro, Lala Qadir, Chris McGuire, Vipin Narang, and Rob Knake.

Ezinne Uzo-Okoro – Assistant Director for Space Policy, White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP)

Lala Qadir – Chief of Staff, National Security Division, OSTP

Chris McGuire – Director for Technology and National Security, National Security Council

Rob Knake – Deputy National Cyber Director for Budget and Policy

Vipin Narang – Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Space Policy, Department of Defense

Since our last issue went to press, Nick Burns was confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to China, Sasha Baker was confirmed as Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, and Laura Holgate was confirmed as Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency and the UN office in Vienna. Meanwhile, Aditi Kumar has a new role as Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary for Acquisitions & Sustainment, and Michael Sulmeyer is now Principal Cyber Advisor to the Secretary of the Army.
