General Daniel B. Allyn, commander of United States Army Forces Command, will speak on the “State of the US Army.”
As commander of United States Army Forces Command, General Allyn is responsible for the training and readiness of all US-based Army forces including 265,000 active component Soldiers and 560,000 Army National Guard and Reserve Soldiers. General Allyn previously served as Commanding General, Combined Joint Task Force - 1 and Regional Command East in Afghanistan as well as Chief of Staff, Multi-National Corps Iraq.
General Allyn's prior duties include command at the platoon through corps level including assignments in the 2nd, 3rd and 82nd Infantry Divisions and as the commander of the 1st Cavalry Division and 18th Airborne Corps. He served three tours of duty with the Army’s elite 75th Ranger Regiment and has had several staff assignments from the battalion to Joint Staff level. Besides Afghanistan and Iraq, he has served overseas assignments in Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada, two peacekeeping deployments to the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, Operation Just Cause in Panama, Operation Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia, and Operation Desert Spring in Kuwait.
He is a native of Berwick, Maine and a graduate of the United States Military Academy and the Naval War College.
