Putin’s Approach toward the United States: A Seminar with Steedman Hinckley

Join the Intelligence Project on Wednesday, September 17th, to hear about Russian foreign policy towards the United States from Steedman Hinckley, an expert on Russia who served as a member of the CIA's senior analytic service and supported several presidents. Mr. Hinckley will examine in detail President Putin's takeaways from his dealings with President Trump's first administration that are influencing his approach toward the second. This session is open to Harvard ID holders and will be held under the Chatham House rules. Registration is required. Light refreshments will be served.

Join the Intelligence Project on Wednesday, September 17th, to hear about Russian foreign policy towards the United States from Steedman Hinckley, an expert on Russia who served as a member of the CIA's senior analytic service and supported several presidents. Steedman Hinckley is an Adjunct Senior Researcher at the RAND Corporation. He served seven presidents analyzing and advising on Russian and Eurasian affairs and US-Russian relations. He retired from government in 2023 as a member of CIA's senior analytic service. He formerly served on the White House national security staff, the secretary of state’s policy planning staff, and the national intelligence council, where he led intelligence community work on Russia and Eurasia. He was a political officer at the US embassy in Moscow and in Vladivostok and was executive secretary of three US binational commissions with Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. He holds a B.A. in Russian and Soviet studies from Wesleyan University and an M.A. in policy analysis from the RAND School of Public Policy.
