Cyber Security Today: A United States Perspective

| September 19, 2012

On 19 September 2012, the International Relations and Security Network and Center for Security Studies hosted a presentation by Ms. Melissa Hathaway, the former Acting Senior Director for Cyberspace at the United States' National Security Council and a senior advisor to Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama on cyber security issues.

In the presentation, Ms. Hathaway described her role in helping to develop recent U.S. cyber security strategy, the threats and challenges that still exist in the cyber realm, and the "five areas of tension" found in government bureaucracies and the private sector that complicate the development of coherent and effective cyber security policies.
