On October 21, 2015, Ian Shapiro spoke on the conditions under which it is permissible to cross borders in order to prevent domination, with particular focus on issues in American foreign policy such as democracy promotion, the Responsibility to Protect, and containment of terrorist threats, as well as the cases of Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, and Syria. Professor Shapiro drew on material from his forthcoming book, Politics Against Domination (Harvard Belknap, 2016).
