Positive Impact of COVID19 Vaccines at the Individual and Population Level

The United States has entered a new phase of the COVID19 pandemic where cases are decreasing, and vaccination rates are increasing. Vaccines not only benefit the individual who has gotten vaccinated by decreasing their chances of getting infected, experiencing disease and death but also benefits the population at large by creating more “viral dead ends.”

This two-level benefit is further broken down in the table below to display the positive impact of the FDA emergency authorized COVID19 vaccine. As more people get vaccinated, we will not only see improvements individually, but its impact collectively, at the population level, with decreasing cases, hospitalizations and deaths.

In the end, we need more people vaccinated to build community immunity. Every vaccination counts!
