Caring for Cassandra: Big Tech's Whistleblowers
An AI Cyber Lunch with technology critic and industry analyst Sara M. Watson.
An AI Cyber Lunch with technology critic and industry analyst Sara M. Watson.
In Greek myth, Cassandra had the gift of prophecy and suffered the curse of not being believed. Present day Cassandras are the whistleblowers, those fired for questioning tech's business models, those who draw attention to present harms rather than hypotheticals. Many of our staunchest tech critics today are marginalized and suffer for their resistance and refusal.
In this AI Cyber Lunch, technology critic and industry analyst Sara M. Watson will explore how tech policymakers can reimagine the Cassandra narrative by finding ways to support modern day prophetesses in an ethical tech landscape that prevents the harms of tech's greatest tragedies and supports her continued visions for alternative futures.
