Chris Inglis: "Cyber as a Strategic Capability"

Chris Inglis (US Naval Academy Professor) will draw on his previous experience as Deputy Director of the National Security Agency to discuss a new Defense Science Board he co-chairs that examines cyber as a strategic capability.

Biography

John C. (Chris) Inglis is a former Deputy Director of the National Security Agency currently serving as the Looker Distinguished Visiting Professor at the United States Naval Academy’s Center for Cyber Security Studies.  He began his career at the NSA as a computer scientist within the National Computer Security Center and was promoted to the agency’s Senior Executive Service in 1997.  While at the NSA, he served in a variety of senior leadership assignments, including eight years as its senior civilian, responsible for guiding strategy, operations and policy.

A 1976 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and retired Brigadier General in the US Air Force, Mr. Inglis holds advanced degrees in engineering and computer science from Columbia University, Johns Hopkins University and the George Washington University.  He is also a graduate of the Kellogg Business School executive development program, the USAF Air War College, Air Command and Staff College, and Squadron Officers’ School.  Since 2014, Mr. Inglis has served on several Defense Science Board studies (Autonomy, Cyber Deterrence, Military Operations Short of War, and Strategic Cyber Capability), as a member of the Securonix Strategic Advisory Board, a Managing Director at Paladin Capital Group, and on the Boards of Directors for FedEx, KeyW, and Huntington Bank.
